ABOUT SIMMS

Inspired by the beauty of the world and motivated by the stories that can be told, Simms is excited to be able to create images in new and powerful ways that tell the story and carry an emotional impact.

Starting young, and with encouragement from family and friends, Simms began working in television behind the camera at 13, and at 18 went to school at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to study cinematography.

Simms' travels and outdoor hobbies, such as sailing and hunting, have allowed him to experience some of the beauty that the world has to offer.  Combing this with his technical background in farm equipment repair and church A/V work, Simms has found a home in the world of cinematography as a way to mesh a deep technical understanding with thoughtful and meaningful artistic vision.

Besides the craft services on set, Simms enjoys nothing more than being a part of and working with a dedicated creative team as a director of photography.
